Jazz Stars, Jack Dejohnette, Ravi Coltrane & Friends Convene at NYC’s Blue Note Jazz Club in Support of JazzReach
New York City: On June 29, 2009, audiences packed the renowned Blue Note Jazz Club for two stellar sets of music featuring jazz master, Jack DeJohnette and the widely acclaimed saxophonist, Ravi Coltrane. Rounding out the band was the extraordinary bassist, Kenny Davis and the fast-emerging harpist, Brandee Younger. Sitting in with the band was none other than JazzReach’s very own Marcus Strickland.
Repertoire was diverse and broad and ranged from original compositions by both Mr. DeJohnette and and Mr. Coltrane, to songs by Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane and the recently departed, Michael Jackson.
It was an amazing evening to be long remembered with all proceeds benefiting JazzReach’s committed endeavors in arts education. JazzReach wishes to thank all the musicians, The Blue Note Jazz Club and all the patrons who came out for all your kind generosity and support.
