JazzReach Programs Tour U.S. Extensively Throughout 2005/06: Over 25,000 Young People Served!

JazzReach Hits Seattle

JazzReach's 2005/06 Season came to a close on Saturday June 3, 2006 after a highly enjoyable three-day residency at the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival in Wilmington, Delaware. All told, the 2005/06 Season was among the organization's busiest and most successful to date. In sum, JazzReach presented over 40 performances of its widely acclaimed multi-media educational programs for over 25,000 people in over 23 communities in 14 states that included South Dakota, Wisconsin, California, Washington, Michigan, Vermont, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Delaware, Indiana, Arizona, New Hampshire and of course, New York.

Of our programs, The Savannah Music Festival writes, "We are grateful for the fine work you are doing, promoting jazz education across the nation. As ambassadors of this great American art, you are preserving our national legacy and helping to pass it on to the next generation."

Da Camera of Houston, who hosted JazzReach for an extensive five-day residency, writes, "Our community residency project with JazzReach and Metta Quintet stands out as a distinct highlight of our 05/06 Season. This busy week of educational programs, master-classes and concerts did much to further our goal of building audiences for chamber music and jazz and helped deepen relationships with several key community partners."

JazzReach Founder, H. Benjamin Schuman remarks, "This season was particularly exciting for us in that, in addition to returning to venues and communities that have presented us in previous seasons, we visited (and made new friends) in several new communities like Madison, Seattle and Sioux Falls, SD to name a few. Most gratifying was the simple fact that we were out there, on the road, state-by-state, town-by-town, carrying out our mission, performing for students, working with young musicians and giving concerts! My day-to-day role as Executive Director always pays off when we're in front of these smiling, open-minded young audiences. Jazz is such a precious, rich and vital art form; knowing that we're providing first-time access is truly rewarding beyond words. I can't wait to do more!"
