JazzReach completes a successful 2011/2012 national touring season – over 25,000 served

NEW YORK CITY - On June 6, 2012, JazzReach successfully completed its 2011/2012 touring season.   In total, the organization presented numerous educational performances, main-stage concerts and clinics, workshops and master-classes in over 20 communities nationwide and triumphantly served and impacted over 25,000 people of all ages!

The season included the resoundingly successful world premiere performances of an all-new live multi-media program called Miles Davis and The Blue Flame Incident, which targets students in grades 7-12 and aims to promote the achievements and legacy of the great Miles Davis. The program was commissioned by “Jazz St. Louis” and premiered at the Touhill Center for Performing Arts in St. Louis in October 2011. The program debuted in NYC in June 2012 at the Highline Ballroom before an audience of over 200 NYC Public School students.

The 2011 / 2012 season also featured our resident ensemble, Metta Quintet’s debut engagement at NYC’s world renowned jazz club, The Jazz Standard, which celebrated the ensemble’s new CD release “Big Drum / Small World” which earned a 3.5 Star review in DownBeat Magazine and “Editor’s Pick” at “All About Jazz (.com)”.
